Neem - Natural Parasite Killer

5 CommentsWednesday, 29 April 2015  |  Kate

Neem oil, the organic, pure stuff, should never be underestimated when it comes to repelling fleas, ticks, mites, lice and flies. It will also sort out mange but make sure there isn't an underlying bacterial infection with mange, especially if it's been there a while.

Why would I use Neem for parasites?

  • If your dog reacts to conventional flea treatments
  • If you just don't like using them and want an alternative which actually works
  • If your dog or cat (or horse) doesn't like the Billy No Mates or Filly No Mates
  • If your pet doesn't generally get fleas but you'd like to have something natural on hand which will fix a parasite problem as an when

Should I use oil or shampoo?

Neem Oil

For parasite control use Ekoneem, 100% neem oil (see diagram right.) It's not mixed with anything else and is good to have a pot about the place (in the fridge) for first aid. Use it on dogs, horses, humans and cats (because it's a vegetable oil, not an essential oil, it's safe for cats) for:

  • Insect bites
  • Flea allergic dermatitis
  • Burns
  • Wet eczema
  • Sore, cracked skin and paws
  • Dry, flaky skin
  • Fungal skin problems

Neem Shampoo

Use one of our neem shampoos for:

Do you have anything to combat ring worm? I have just taken on a rescue dog for fostering and could do with a bit of advice on this

Hi, can I use Ekoneem oil to treat harvest mites? I have the Ekoneem parasite spray bundle already so it would save me purchasing the shampoo.

Hi Pat

Yes it can no problem. The spray will be particularly effective and if he gets a bite spray it on directly. That'll stop 'em!
